Charity Work

Since 2007 Macmillan has been the nominated charity for Shepherd Homes.

Various events are organised by staff and last year alone over £10,000 was raised and a cheque presented to Macmillan.

Last year a “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” was held with other events such as an Auction of Promises, a sponsored walk, a Christmas Bring and Buy plus lunch.

Many of the staff from Shepherd Homes, Shepherd Group at Huntington House and from the site office generously contribute on a regular basis to make these events a success.

Upon receipt of the cheque in 2009 we were informed by Macmillan that the sum presented could provide 56 days of nursing or pay for the help line for a week.  During the week, on average, Macmillan will deal with 682 calls and emails from people affected by cancer which enables them to provide essential information as well as practical and emotional support Shepherd Homes will continue to support Macmillan in the future.
